Here, we show mutual-information (MI) Optimal flight paths for February 14, which maximizes the MI between the surface velocity measured on February 14 and Sigma-T on February 16 and 18. In addition, we consider flight paths that are 700 nmi and 805 nmi long. In each case, the flight is allowed to travel in any of Nθ=16 different directions (0° [north], 22.5°, 45°, etc.), in Ns=7 segments between takeoff and landing.
Blue circles in the optimal flight path plots indicate waypoints but data is collected all along the flight paths; datafiles with these coordinates are available for download (see links in fifth column)
