Special Product: Targeted Sections
We employ our MIT-MSEAS Wide Angle ParEq (MSEAS-WAPE) modeling system to forecast a set of acoustics transmission loss (TL) fields along targeted vertical sections (see map). The locations of the sections are selected based on our ocean forecasts, focusing on regions with significant sound speed ducts, sound speed gradients, or variability in these gradients. We forecast the TL fields and propagation loss curves for a 0550 Hz source at 100 m depth (see maps), using the sound speed and density forecasts from our MIT-MSEAS ocean modeling system as inputs. Forecasts are provided every 12 hours.
