Horizontal maps of MSEAS-PE model forecasts at a fixed time each day, with T/S profile data values at that depth (50 or 500 m) overlaid and colored as dots. Note that the model forecast maps are plotted only at the fixed time of 00Z each day while data are collected over the duration of the subsequent day. In rapid dynamics conditions, the data dots plotted over that day can indicate variability that is in the model forecast but not shown on the single-time forecast map. All data are independent of the model forecast simulations issued, except perhaps for a few of the early data on the first day that may be used at the start of the model simulation. Colorbar limits vary from data-to-day to facilitate comparison on that day.
