The two figures below compare sea surface temperature from AVHRR measurements (NOAA15 MCSST) for 13 May with temperature at 5 meters from the HOPS model. Temperature features are generally comparable between the two sets of results. Especially notable is the cool intrusion to the west of the island of Elba, as well the general overall temperature patterns.
