Channel Domain -- 26-27 September

The Harvard Primitive Equation model was initialized using the Alliance CTD data collected through 24 September and forced with atmospheric fluxes from FNMOC.

The results presented below show temperature, salinity and total velocity vectors at the surface and at 50m. Overlain on these fields are the 50, 200 and 500m isobaths.

Both the nowcast and the forecast indicate the major external forcing on Procchio Bay is from the south around the western edge of Elba.

A "quick-look evaluation" of the surface temperature from the model for 26 September shows good agreement with the SST from SACLANTCEN.
