Dynamical Model Results
 

LOOPS Mass. Bay Sea Trial - Dynamical Analysis

Data collected during the periods 17-21 August and 2-4 September as well as during the MBST in Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod Bay by the R/V Lucky Lady, the R/V Oceanus and by Battelle Labs for the MWRA have been combined with historical Gulf of Maine (GOM) data to provide an estimate for the synoptic conditions. The estimate has been used to initialize a primitive equation based dynamical model on 14 September. Data is then assimilated on subsequent gathering days, using Optimal Interpolation. Meteorological data has been acquired from the Fleet Numerical Meteorological and Oceanographic Center in Monterey, CA and is used to force the model. Results are presented for the time period 14 - 27 September.
