I've attached a version of your text file with my specific updates and comments included.
One general comment, although I am a fan of the visual inspection, we need to include at least comments on automatic alternatives.

Thanks Pat, I've downloaded your file.
We have generally not used automatic alternatives; and our particular experience is, I believe, the focus of the paper. However, your are right in that automatic alternatives must be commented upon in order to indicate a general knowledge of procedures elsewhere and the potential benefits or downfalls that these alternatives might provide.

All the plots created to date for the paper are now located in the directory /srv/www/htdocs/group/wgleslie/Data_QC_Paper/Background_Plots (aka http://mseas.mit.edu/group/wgleslie/Data_QC_Paper/Background_Plots). The sub-directories Cast099, Cast100 and Cast157 contain multiple plots which depict the effects of different types and orders of filters. Again, this is all the plots - the figures chosen to go in the paper are in the sub-directory Figures, which is reached as http://mseas.mit.edu/group/wgleslie/Data_QC_Paper/Figures
