His research interests\nspan the fields of computational engineering, uncertainty quantification and data assimilation.\nHis current work focuses on the efficient modeling of ocean acoustic waves propagation and\nsignal tomography in the presence of environmental uncertainties, with the goal of using these\ntools to develop an underwater GPS system.\n\nBefore joining MIT, Wael spent four fruitful years at the American University of Beirut (AUB),\nwhere he had the opportunity to refine his interests in the history and archaeology of Lebanon\nand the Middle East.\n\nHe is currently working on:\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n \t<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mseas.mit.edu\/Research\/S-DUCT\/index.html\">Surface Dynamic Uncertainty Characterization and Transfer (S-DUCT)<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mseas.mit.edu\/Research\/POSYDON-POINT\/index.html\">Precision Ocean Interrogation, Navigation, and Timing (POINT)  POSYDON-MIT<\/a><\/li>\n \t<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mseas.mit.edu\/Research\/RedSea\/\">Red Sea Initiative<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\nHis publications so far include:\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n \t<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mseas.mit.edu\/?p=4383\">Kulkarni, C.S., P.J.
