Jhalyssa is a first year graduate student. She intends to develop probabilistic models for predicting sea ice deformation using data from the recently completed NISAR mission and SAR observations. The work combines stochastic dynamically orthogonal decompositions with nonlinear Bayesian filtering techniques to assimilate SAR measurements into physics-based models of sea ice dynamics.
